Being healthy is not just about the way you feel. To most people, being healthy is measured by absence of symptoms and disease. In fact there is more to being healthy!
Our body’s natural response to being sick includes symptoms which is
actually a good thing or we could call it ‘being well’ For example if
we have picked up a ‘bug’ or a ‘flu’, our body’s regular temperature
will increase to try and expel the bug. This is perfectly normal.
The body has many adaptive processes to ensure we function normally on
a day to day basis. These may include sweating and releasing insulin
into the bloodstream to metabolise sugar and so on. These responses
from our body’s are not always comfortable, but we should not always be
tempted to stop certain processes from occurring and allow the body to
respond naturally
For example; When a person has tooth decay, do they feel it to begin
with or do they feel it once the decay has begun and they are at the
dentist? Just because we feel OK does not mean that underneath our
body’s are working optimally!!
‘When health is absent, wisdom cannot reveal itself, art cannot
manifest, strength cannot fight, wealth becomes useless, and
intelligence cannot be applied.’ --Herophilus
